Why did you choose to work at LumenRadio?
I love product development and to work together with others in a team. The fact that LumenRadio is an IoT company with great products, at the forefront of tech development and in combination with the great people here, the choice was easy.

What is the vision for the future?
LumenRadio’s vision is to become the tech powerhouse within short-range device-to-device communication. We have declared war on cables and our promise is to deliver Wireless Without Worries, no matter what.

What does LumenRadio do for the well-being of its employees?
A lot of us have hobbies or “home-projects” of all sorts. One of the special things with LumenRadio is the possibility to cultivate your interest, for that LumenRadio gives a yearly contribution to spend on cultivating employees’ interests. Contributions have been used for all sorts of activities from home-built robot lawn mower to magazine subscriptions.

What are the main benefits of working in LumenRadio?
LumenRadio is a fast-growing company with high ambitions. Persons that like freedom and to take action to reach our ambitions thrive in our company.

What makes LumenRadio an attractive and modern workplace?
Being an embedded product development company, some activities need to be done in the office. We have found a way of working flexible and looking ahead, post-Covid, hybrid work will most probably be the standard. Pre-Covid we had Monday morning breakfast, which will be back when it’s possible to gather again.

What are some important features to enjoy with this service?
With freedom, comes responsibility and it’s not always easy. Yet fast decision making, and self-motivation/drive are important features to enjoy working here.

Software Engineer

WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND AND WHAT MADE YOU APPLY FOR THE POSITION AT LUMENRADIO?
I wanted to work at a product company, to keep a long relationship with the things I do. I have mostly worked close to HW, but also in higher level development. LumenRadio could provide a good combination of both. I also like the size, which gives flexibility in decision making.

FOR HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WORKING AT LUMENRADIO?
4 years and counting.

WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE IN THE TEAM?
We meet for a daily stand-up, assess what we should be working on if necessary, and get going. In Covid times and work from home, a lot of communication occurs on chat. About work, or anything...

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE ATMOSPHERE IN YOUR TEAM?
Light-hearted, fun, responsible.

WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE MOST STIMULATING ABOUT THE JOB?
Seeing products working as a whole! Even after years, it is magical to see the result of your efforts working, with hardware, firmware, app, web servers, all together. I like having insight in all parts of such products.

WHAT ARE THE MAIN BENEFITS?
Work with competent and smart colleagues, willing to share knowledge and learn. The possibility to influence how the company does things and get to discover new areas of interest.

Johannes Arvidsson
Software developer and Product Owner

WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND AND WHAT MADE YOU APPLY FOR THE POSITION AT LUMENRADIO?
I came fresh out of university to LumenRadio. I was looking for something exciting, where what you did mattered and had a real impact. LumenRadio seemed like an enticing company, being so small but doing business with big players in Hollywood and industry.

FOR HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WORKING AT LUMENRADIO?
It’s coming up on three years now.

WHAT IS IT LIKE TO WORK THERE?
It’s very rewarding, especially in the perspective of R&D. There’s definitely a startup feeling, with heavy focus on new development and breaking ground within IoT. At the same time, with the professional lighting business raking in cash, we’re not that dependent on investors.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE ATMOSPHERE IN YOUR TEAM?
“Challenge accepted” is a term that pop up a lot. We’re excited and confident, and not afraid to “boldly go where no one has gone before”.

WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE IN THE TEAM?
We have a daily standup in the morning. Most of the time we’re all working from home at the moment, but a few days a week somebody will be at the office. We’re going through how the day will play out and if somebody needs help with anything. The work can vary a lot, be it just writing code, soldering on some development hardware, meeting with customers, or running tests.

WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE MOST STIMULATING ABOUT THE JOB?
Getting close to the technology forefront. There is a lot of wireless tech out there, and most of it is owned by huge consortiums or companies. We can have an immensely short turn-around times from concept to prototype to market, one that the Bluetooth SIG could only dream of. Getting impressive stuff out there and seeing the reaction from the market is extremely rewarding.

WHAT ARE THE MAIN BENEFITS?
Freedom (and responsibility). We’re not bogged down by bureaucracy, and we have a lot of power to do what we want, when we want it. If you have high ambitions this can be incredibly facilitating and reliving.

Daniel Hansson
Engineering Partner Manager

WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND AND WHAT MADE YOU APPLY FOR THE POSITION AT LUMENRADIO?
I trained as a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering at Chalmers, and have always had an interest in technical solutions. I thought LumenRadio was an attractive workplace for two main reasons.

The first is that you are close to all levels that work in the company. You are in the same office as the CEO and management team, which means that there is an opportunity for a very transparent discussion throughout the company. The second reason is that you get to be involved and make an impression in a market that is being created right now. The future need for connected devices is enormous, and to be able to be involved and influence it is very motivating.

FOR HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WORKING AT LUMENRADIO?
Since 2018, then 3 years.

WHAT IS IT LIKE TO WORK THERE?
Rewarding both for the development of competence and personal development. If you want, there are opportunities to gain responsibility and develop with that responsibility. It is also a company where cohesion is good and you get the opportunity to get to know all your colleagues very well, which of course leads to an even better feeling when going to work.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE ATMOSPHERE IN YOUR TEAM?
The atmosphere is helpful and challenging. We want to help each other achieve good results while we want to share our knowledge. We work close together and a lot a problems are usually best solved together.

WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE IN THE TEAM?
A common feature of everyday life is customer meetings, where the goal is everything from defining a specific customer's business case, to leading workshops and training days. The focus is very customer-centric. Other days are very focused on development and creating a product, proof-of-concept through software development.

WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE MOST STIMULATING ABOUT THE JOB?
The chance to be involved in all parts of product development. It is very motivating and developing to see an idea come to life as a finished product - or to go from idea to a working concept in just a few days. It is a very creative process and challenging task to solve so many technical problems.

WHAT ARE THE MAIN BENEFITS?
To have the opportunity to work in the borderland between technology and the customer, and to work in an exciting market, with exciting technology and exciting colleagues.
